Road Trip Essentials

The equipment shown on this page forms part of the ‘must have’ equipment that I keep in my cars to be prepared for any eventuality when out on the road. I own all of these items and have used them extensively before making a recommendation to fellow petrolheads.

Michelin tyre inflator

One of the most useful things I keep in the car. Compact, reliable, and with an automatic cut off once the set pressure is reached. 12v socket plug in, so no need to charge.

Quik Detailer spray

Absolutely mega stuff for a quick clean up on the move, it works wonders on windscreen bugs and grime. Perfect for cleaning door and bonnet shuts, it smells great as well!

Bibury multi-tool

This is one of the handiest gadgets I own, the very sturdy screwdriver tool with interchangeable bits makes this ultra handy. Frequently used for on-the-fly repairs during outdoors activities.

Fire Safety Stick

The one item on this page that thankfully I have never needed to use. This compact extinguisher brings peace of mind and fits easily into the glovebox of most cars. Works on all fire types.

Screen phone mount

Not every car is blessed (or cursed?) with a massive touch screen, for older cars this sturdy suction phone mount is perfect for holding my phone safely to access navigation and tunes.

12V USB charger

Another one for older cars, especially those that dared to be made before the provision of USB ports and wireless charging. A dedicated USB-C flexi cable, plus USB-A and C ports.

Window squeegee

Coming out to a car covered in condensation or rain is annoying, this glovebox-sized squeegee is brilliant for a whizz around the windows and mirrors so you can see where you are going.

Spurtar wheel brace

If you ever need to change a wheel at the roadside, you want to be sure you can get it off. This telescopic wheel brace has saved me from the curse of garage ‘ugga-dugga’ guns several times.

Hi-vis vest 4 pack

The colour that saved countless lives – a four pack of hi-vis vests to make you and your passengers visible in the event of a breakdown. The reflective bands work well at night time too.
